There is now a much stronger need to focus on self-assessment as a method for evaluating value for money, and a means of identifying improvements that will result in the provision of excellent, efficient, effective services to meet the needs of local communities.

This journey is an ongoing process and the Culture First team will support local authorities by providing

• Advocacy – briefing notes and case studies for senior managers and elected members championing culture and sport
• Evidence – helping to signpost data that demonstrates the economic, social and intrinsic benefits
• Collaboration – helping culture and sports to communicate what they can offer other service areas
• Intelligence – data that can be used to assist strategic commissioning
• Training – opportunities for cross-sector learning
