Sportivate - encouraging young people to give sport a go
Launched by Sport England and County Sports Partnerships across the country Sportivate will give 14 to 25 year-olds the chance to receive six to eight weeks of coaching in a sport of their choice.
The programme is aimed at those who are not currently choosing to take part in sport in their own time, or are doing so for a very limited amount of time. County Sports Partnerships will work with local providers and sports clubs to help young people continue playing sport long after they have completed the course.
To further inspire and motivate participants, Sporting Champions, a team of current and retired elite athletes, will visit Sportivate sessions to share their experiences and enthusiasm for sport. And, as an additional incentive, those who stick with sport will have the chance to enter a ballot for free London 2012 tickets.
