Culture First Explained

Culture First aims to deliver a programme of activity that facilitates continuous improvement, effective delivery and shared service provision.

The Culture First team supports local government managers by building capacity and enabling more effective partnership working across local government and with civil society partners.

Our priorities

• Supporting culture and sport services on their improvement journey
• Driving efficiency and shared service opportunities for culture and sport
• Sharing learning, intelligence and good practice across the sector
• Developing leadership and advocacy; supporting elected members
• Demonstrating the impact of culture and sport in improving local priorities

Culture First has received funding from Improvement East to support this initiative.  Improvement East is the Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnership (RIEP) for the East of England.  They support local authorities and Fire and Rescue Services in their drive to improve services and increase efficiency.

Arts Council England, Sport England and Museums Libraries & Archives are also supporting the project as part of a DCMS collaborative priority to support local government improvement.
